Acne Control Peels / Oil Control Peel

The chemical peel is one of the oldest cosmetic procedures in the world, and was performed in ancient Egypt, Greece, and Rome to help people achieve smoother, more beautiful skin. Today, chemical facial peels are popular because they offer nearly immediate results and can be performed as an outpatient procedure. Our acne control peels help you get a clearer, healthy-looking complexion. Used with our Obagi Clenziderm acne products, MD Forte and Vivite skincare lines, and microdermabrasions, you can be on your way to smoother skin!
What is an Acne Peel?
When topical acne medications do not provide satisfactory results, a clearer, healthy-looking complexion may be achieved with a chemical peel for acne or acne scars. An acne chemical peel is performed by applying a chemical solution (either a beta hydroxy acid such as salicylic acid, or a Jessner's peel) to the skin. The solution causes the skin to blister and peel over a period of several days. This action unclogs the skin's pores. As the treated skin comes off, fresh new skin replaces it. This exfoliation caused by the acne skin peel eliminates or reduces the appearance of acne blemishes and scars. Acne chemical peel treatments provide benefits in addition to acne treatment — they can improve the skin's pigmentation and make the skin smoother. The most common beta hydroxy acid, salicylic acid, has been used for decades as an acne remedy, and salicylic acid chemical peels are especially effective in eliminating acne. Beta hydroxy acids are helpful because they can exfoliate oily skin and deeply penetrate the skin with no irritation.
Who's Suitable for Acne Peels?
Anyone with acne (either oily acne or dry acne skin), or anyone with oily skin. The beta salicylic peels and the Jessner's peels have a long history of effectiveness for controlling both acne and oily skin. Our Jessner's peel is the newer modified type, which is completely safe. People with a history of allergy to aspirin may not be suitable candidates.
THE PROCEDURE
The treatment time is under 20 minutes. A solution of the most suitable peel will be applied to the face for a few minutes. During that time, there will be a stinging or mild burning sensation as the peel begins to work. After a few minutes, the peel will be neutralised and rinsed off your face. Your skin will be red with a sun burned appearance. At this point, your face will readily absorb vitamin nutrients, which we will place on your face. Sunblock and sun protection with a hat are mandatory.
Your skin should feel tight. Flaking after treatment or be slight irritation should be expected. You should be able to return to work or everyday activities almost immediately after treatment. Light mineral makeup may be placed.
You should use a gentle cleanser and specified moisturising lotion, and to avoid exposing the treated skin to the sun. Our skin care line of products are specially formulated to enhance your cosmetic procedures, such as these peels.
Following your peel, you will notice that the treated skin has improved tone, texture, and feels less oily. Acne breakouts will be controlled. You should see further improvement as your course of treatments progresses.
Are Multiple Acne Peels Required to Achieve Desired Results?
Definitely. Patients generally undergo five to eight acne peels to achieve optimal results. A customised program will be prescribed for each patient, the number and spacing of the treatments varies according to individualised treatment plan for each patient. The best results can be achieved with a program of acne peels, microdermabrasions, and our Obagi acne Clenziderm program. We have numerous options for targeting acne. Find out more here.
