Laser peels are great for the eye area, lipstick bleed lines around the mouth, acne scarring, and the harder to rejuvenate areas of the chest and the hands.
Why Laser Resurfacing?
Our state-of-the-art Erbium-YAG laser represents today's treatment of choice for laser resurfacing. Erbium laser skin resurfacing precisely ablates the epidermis (the outermost layer of the skin) to reveal the underlying skin that is smoother and younger looking. The procedure also activates collagen to promote further tightening of the skin. Undergoing our laser skin resurfacing procedure can greatly benefit the youthfulness and beauty of your skin.
Laser resurfacing is simply the most effective way to naturally rejuvenate your skin, with excellent, amazing results!
Affectionately called the 'weekend peel', our laser resurfacing peels have significantly less down time than older resurfacing lasers.
Where can it be used?
A laser peel can be performed to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, acne scarring, age spots, and blotchy patches on the skin. It can also improve the skin’s overall texture which can become rough and coarse as a result of accumulated sun damage.
As successive layers of skin are removed during laser skin resurfacing, the process results in a fading away of wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes and mouth. After treatment, new skin emerges during the healing process, leaving the treated area looking smoother, tauter, and healthier overall. The same refreshed appearance can be achieved on the delicate skin on the hands and neck, where many of the signs of aging first appear. In addition, uneven skin pigmentation often improves with laser skin resurfacing; during recovery, freckles, sun spots, and other discolorations will begin to fade or disappear.
Are Multiple Laser Skin Resurfacing Treatments Necessary?
The number of treatments needed generally depends on the severity of the condition being treated. For light wrinkles and minor skin discolorations, one or two treatments may be enough to achieve excellent results. For deeper wrinkling and more serious problems like acne scars, additional treatments will be necessary. A series of 3 -4 treatments are recommended for optimal results.
A topical anesthesia will be applied for 30 minutes before the procedure (usually a topical cream). Eye protection will be given. Using the precise and controlled beam of laser light, the outer layers of skin are vaporized, revealing the smoother, younger-looking skin beneath. While the old layers of skin are removed, the growth of new skin cells is being stimulated.
Our facial erbium laser skin resurfacing procedure typically takes 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the area.
Following treatment, you should expect redness of the skin, sometimes mild swelling of the treated area, and moderate irritation similar to the feeling produced by a mild sunburn. The skin will then turn brown as the old skin prepares to peel. This should last about 3 days, after which the old skin will begin to flake off. Makeup (mineral makeup preferred) and diligent sun-blocking with a cream and a hat are recommended. Our skin care lines are some of the best for ensuring the health of your skin as it heals, and after.
Full recovery takes roughly two weeks while the treated area heals and a new layer of healthy skin appears. Re-treatment should be done 3-6 weeks later.
